Fakaofo

Fakaofo is a remote atoll located in the northwestern part of the Tuvalu archipelago. It comprises reef and sandcays, with no permanent residents since 1968 when inhabitants moved to Funafuti due to freshwater scarcity. It holds historical significance as a major settlement prior to the unification of the Tuvalu islands.
