An island country in the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus is known for its rich history, ancient ruins, and diverse cultural heritage. It is divided between the Republic of Cyprus in the south and the Turkish-occupied northern part known as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognized only by Turkey.
