Typhoon

A typhoon is a mature tropical cyclone that develops in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. It’s essentially the same as a hurricane or cyclone – characterized by strong winds rotating around a central low-pressure area, and heavy rainfall. The term 'typhoon' is used specifically for storms occurring west of the International Date Line.
