The Iraq War
The Iraq War was a United States-led military conflict in Iraq that began in March 2003 and officially ended in December 2011. The invasion, primarily motivated by claims of Iraqi possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and ties to terrorism, led to the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime. The subsequent occupation and insurgency resulted in significant casualties, political instability, and long-term repercussions for Iraq and the regions.
