ionized gas state of matter

Plasma is one of the four fundamental states of matter, characterized by a high-energy ionized gas composed of free electrons and ions. It is often referred to as the fourth state of matter, distinct from solids, liquids, and gases. Plasma can be found naturally in stars, lightning bolts, and the Earth's ionosphere, as well as artificially produced in neon signs, plasma TVs, and fusion reactors.
