Mesa Verde
National park in Colorado preserving Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings.
Mesa Verde NP
Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado preserves the remarkable cliff dwellings built by the Ancestral Puebloans (formerly known as Anasazi) between approximately 600 and 1300 CE. The name 'Mesa Verde' means 'green table' in Spanish, referring to the mesa landscape. The park showcases sophisticated architecture and agricultural practices of this pre-Columbian culture.
