Black Canyon
A steep, narrow canyon located in western Colorado and carved by the Gunnison River over millions of years. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is renowned for its dramatic vertical cliffs that rise up to 2,000 feet above the river and descend nearly another mile below. The area features challenging whitewater rapids, rugged terrain, and a remote wilderness environment that supports diverse ecosystems. It is designated as a national park managed by the National Park Service and attracts visitors for activities such as rock climbing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and river rafting.
