The Maroni River, also known as the Marowijne River, is a transboundary river that forms part of the natural border between Suriname and French Guiana in South America. It originates from the Tafelberg mountain range near the village of Nieuw-Lomben in Suriname and flows eastward into the Atlantic Ocean near Kourou, French Guiana.
