Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin (1878-1953) was the dictatorial leader of the Soviet Union from the late 1920s until his death. Originally known as Iosif Dzhugashvili, he consolidated power through purges and political repression, transforming the USSR into a totalitarian state. His policies included forced collectivization of agriculture and rapid industrialization, often at immense human cost. Stalin's rule was marked by widespread famine, political executions, and the Gulag system of labor camps.
