Britons

The Britons were ancient Celtic people who inhabited the island of Great Britain from at least the 1st millennium BCE until their gradual assimilation by other groups, particularly the Anglo-Saxons and later the English. They spoke Brythonic Celtic languages and were known for their tribal societies, hill forts, and resistance against Roman conquest.
