Albert Einstein (1879-1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist widely regarded as one of the greatest scientists of all time. Best known for his theory of relativity (both special and general), Einstein's work revolutionized physics, providing new understandings of gravity, space, and time. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his explanation of the photoelectric effect.
