Also known as the Persian Gulf War, it was a conflict in 1990-1991 involving a United Nations coalition force led by the United States against Iraq following Iraq’s invasion and annexation of Kuwait. The war resulted in Iraq's withdrawal from Kuwait and significant damage to its military infrastructure.
