Duchy of Hildburghausen Saxe-Hildburg

Saxe-Hildburghausen was a duchy located in the German Empire, existing from 1806 until its dissolution following World War I. It was part of the Ernestine line of the House of Wettin and became a duchy after being elevated from an immediate principality under French protection during the Napoleonic era. the region played a relatively minor role in major European events but maintained its autonomy until German unification.
