Sauteurs

Town in Dominica known for its views and historical accounts.

Sauteurs is a town located on the Caribbean island of Dominica, situated in St. Patrick parish. It is renowned for its breathtaking views from cliffs overlooking Soufriere Bay and its proximity to volcanic peaks such as Morne Wylliams and Morne Diablotais. The name 'Sauteurs,' derived from the French word meaning 'jumpers,' is associated with historical accounts involving indigenous Kalinago people who allegedly chose to leap from cliffs rather than surrender to European colonization.
