Microburst

A microburst is a localized column of sinking air within a thunderstorm that results in an outward burst of damaging winds at the surface. They are typically smaller than 2.5 miles across and last only a few minutes, but can produce wind speeds exceeding 100 mph, comparable to those found in tornadoes.
