Holetown

Holetown, located on Barbados's west coast, is considered the island’s first English settlement. Established in 1627 by Sir John Compton, it marks the site of a failed early settlement and later developed into a vital port for shipping sugar and other goods. Today, it's a popular tourist destination known for its beaches, historic sites like the 1654 poll tax record (a significant step toward representative government), and vibrant atmosphere.
