God Particle

A fundamental particle associated with the Higgs field, a quantum field theorized to permeate all of space. Its existence explains how other particles acquire mass. Discovered in 2012 at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, it confirms a key prediction of the Standard Model of particle physics.

The Higgs boson is named after Peter Higgs, a British physicist who proposed the existence of the field that gives mass to particles.
