French Horn

Brass instrument with a mellow, horn-like tone.

French horn

A brass instrument characterized by its coiled tubing and use of valves (or a rotary valve system) to alter pitch. Its mellow, horn-like tone is produced by buzzing the player's lips into a mouthpiece and manipulating valves to change the length of the tubing. Historically valveless, modern French horns typically have three or four valves.
