Earthquakes

Sudden shaking of the Earth's surface.

quake seismic event

An earthquake is a sudden and sometimes violent shaking of the ground caused by movements within the Earth's crust or volcanic activity. These events occur along fault lines where tectonic plates meet and release stored energy in the form of seismic waves. Earthquakes can range from barely perceptible tremors to catastrophic events capable of causing widespread destruction.
