Desert
A desert is an arid region that receives very little precipitation. Typically defined as areas receiving less than 250 millimeters (10 inches) of rainfall annually, deserts can be hot or cold and are characterized by sparse vegetation and specialized adaptations in the flora and fauna to survive harsh conditions.
