Congaree National Park is a U.S. national park located in central South Carolina, protecting one of the largest intact remnants of an undisturbed bottomland hardwood forest ecosystem in North America. The park is renowned for its towering trees, some reaching heights exceeding 100 feet—among the tallest hardwoods east of the Mississippi River—and its rich biodiversity, including numerous species of plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
