Basra

Basra is a port city in southern Iraq, located on the Shatt al-Arab river (historically known as the Tigris–Euphrates confluence). Historically significant as a major trading hub and early center of Islamic learning, it has faced challenges due to conflict and environmental degradation (particularly saltwater intrusion).
