Aztec civilization
The Aztec civilization, also known as the Mexica, was a powerful pre-Columbian society that flourished in central Mexico between the 14th and 16th centuries. Known for their complex social hierarchy, advanced agricultural techniques (including chinampas or 'floating gardens'), and elaborate religious practices centered around a pantheon of gods, the Aztec Empire was conquered by Spanish conquistadors led by Hernán Cortés in 1521.
